Keep it free,
and keep it maintained.
HeatherDB is AGPL licensed. It will stay that way. Sponsorship pays for the half of the work that nobody writes a blog post about.
What it pays for
Every number in the documentation is produced by running the code against a live engine, not estimated. That takes machine time and someone's afternoon.
A tutorial ladder, encoding guides, a reference for every knob, and a glossary that explains each idea twice — once plainly, once precisely.
Seven build targets, signed container images, checksummed archives, and install scripts that verify what they download.
The slowest and most useful part: helping someone work out whether this fits their problem, and saying so when it does not.
If you are a company
Sponsorship is not the same thing as support. If HeatherDB is going into production and you need help sizing it, encoding your data, or getting a fix prioritised, that is a conversation rather than a checkout — and it is how this work stays funded without the engine itself going closed.
